Microsoft’s Business Planning organization directs our commercial portfolio’s pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few organizations exist that have such a direct impact on how Microsoft goes to market, which reverberates across the entire industry. Within Business Planning, the New Commerce and Commercial Strategy organization works across Azure, M365 and Dynamics 365 driving cross-cloud monetization strategies for how and where customers buy. This includes defining the strategy for Microsoft’s commerce experiences, commerce platform enhancements and engineering prioritization, channel business models, product licensing and use rights, and support as well as driving growth through audience specific offers and experiences.

As a Senior Business Planner in the New Commerce and Commercial Strategy organization focusing on Commerce Strategy Workflow Intelligence and Process Excellence you will have the opportunity to define and lead strategic initiatives that drive company performance and accelerate impact through driving the end to end strategy, development and delivery of commerce strategy workflow optimizations, intelligent automation business enhancements, and commerce business intelligence solutions and enhancements that serve to accelerate impact across key areas of our business, serving multiple stakeholder teams and personas across our Commercial business. This role will be hands on across business strategy, solution design and implementation perspectives where qualified candidates will be proficient in differentiating themselves with Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Fabric/Power BI, and Azure DevOps knowledge and experience.

You’ll partner closely with stakeholders across engineering, finance, operations, marketing, legal and field sales; leading conversations with executives to drive strategy alignment and decision-making, and serving as a core strategic input driver of implementation.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Business Planner in the New Commerce & Commercial Strategy organization, you will lead Commerce Strategy Workflow Intelligence and Business Excellence enhancements and implementation, taking responsibility for defining and evolving the strategy, scoping and driving key initiatives, gaining executive and stakeholder alignment, and translating the strategy into tangible business outcomes that accelerate impact and increase productivity.

How you will make an impact:

+ Identify and address opportunities across key Commerce strategy workflows and rhythms of business to reduce time to impact and accelerate outcomes through exploring, scoping and delivering intelligent automation solutions (including AI Agents).

+ Identify and address opportunities to leverage business intelligence solutions like Fabric/Power BI and other internal assets, to enhance end to end commerce strategy workflow effectiveness, speed up and improve decision making, and increase transparency and accountability across key initiatives.

+ Build business cases on specific topics to influence internal investment decisions, intelligent automation and agentic solution roadmaps, and commerce strategy workflow design.

+ Conduct internal and external research to gain new perspectives to cultivate and validate business cases.

+ Drive cross-functional alignment and gain buy-in to solidify a business vision, aligning priorities and translating the strategy into requirements.

+ Define the approach to bring a strategy to life through roadmap and change management planning and developing content that synthesizes details into an effective story that can be used across the organization.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

+ 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, customer success engineering, business/corporate development, or related experience

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ Experience as a storyteller with Fabric/PowerBI Front End, Azure Dev Ops,Designing and Building AI Agents or related experience

+ OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

+ 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field

+ OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field OR equivalent experience.

+ Strategic thinking and ability to learn, understand and connect complex business models quickly.

+ Structured and analytical approach to problem-solving with the ability to utilize data.

+ A proven track record of engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to gain credibility and partnership quickly.

+ Demonstrated ability to successfully work and collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Product Managers, and other deeply technical disciplines.

Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
