Pengate Handling Systems is searching for an Applications Engineer to join our Systems & Automation team! This individual will work closely with the Sales team to analyze customer processes, identify solution requirements, design material handling systems, create proposals, and specify technology deployment strategies.

What You’ll Do

* Develop material handling and storage solutions for customers in warehousing and manufacturing industries. Solutions include racking systems, shuttles, conveyors, autonomous vehicles, automated storage/retrieval systems, and more.

* Analyze customer data and existing operational processes.

* Determine solution requirements based on customer input and your own analysis.

* Develop facility and equipment layout options.

* Identify equipment specification options to meet requirements.

* Analyze options and prepare recommendations for customers.

* Create bills of materials and final drawings for proposed systems.

* Compile costs for all materials and labor.

* Develop preliminary project plans for implementation.

* Write and present customer-facing proposals.

* Review approval drawings, schematics, and detailed descriptions of operations.

* Support project managers through project implementation and final system commissioning.

* Attend training programs and stay up to date with new technology.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

* Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar.

* Experience with material handling automation such as conveyors, autonomous vehicles, and automated storage/retrieval systems.

* 5+ years of experience at material handling automation integrator is ideal.

* If no integrator experience, 5+ years of experience in warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment, or manufacturing while working directly on material handling automation projects.

* Experience designing and implementing solutions to improve labor and space efficiency.

* Experience developing and managing capital projects.

* Ability to read blueprints.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage constant project scope changes.

* Ability to manage many competing priorities.

* Valid driver’s license.
