    Job Description:

    Duration/Hours** **:

    June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026

     

    Pay rate is $25/hour for undergraduate student

     

    Pay rate is $30/hour for graduate student

     

    Full-time; 37.5 hours per week

     

    ABA’s Internship provides students with a paid opportunity to work with one of the biggest trade associations in Washington, DC. This extremely selective opportunity provides students with the opportunity to do substantial work in various divisions across ABA, connect with leadership, build a network, and make a difference.

    Primary Responsibilities

    + Collect, organize and analyze financial statement data from nonbank financial institutions (NBFIs), including private credit firms and fintech companies, as well call report data from FDIC related to banks’ lending to NBFIs.

    + Identify and track emerging trends in funding, lending and liquidity positions that may signal shifts in the financial markets; highlight potential risk signals or indicators of stress that may affect broader financial system.

    + Examine interactions between banks and nonbanks, with a focus on credit flows and balance sheet linkages.

    + Prepare research summaries, charts and briefing materials to support senior team members in policy analysis and developing insights.

    Required Skills

    Completion of coursework in macroeconomics and microeconomics; additional finance or banking courses a plus.

     

    Strong foundation in financial statement analysis (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).

     

    Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., pivot tables, financial ratios, basic modeling).

     

    Experience with Python or R for data cleaning, statistical analysis, and visualization.

     

    Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently under guidance from senior staff.

     

    Curiosity about financial markets, banking, and regulatory developments, with a willingness to explore emerging trends in the economy and financial market.

     

    Ability to report into ABA headquarters located in Washington, DC, at least two-times per week (relocation assistance or stipend is not included for the intern program). Internship positions are not eligible for healthcare insurance coverage.

     

    Minimum Education Requirements

     

    Major Field of Study: Economics, Banking, Finance

     

    Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior ($25.00 an hour) or Graduate Student ($30.00 an hour)

    Salary Band Range:

    $15.00 - $37.50 - $60.00
