Pay rate is $25/hour for undergraduate student (rising sophomore, junior and senior)
Full-time; 37.5 hours per week
ABA’s Internship provides students with a paid opportunity to work with one of the biggest trade associations in Washington, DC. This extremely selective opportunity provides students with the opportunity to do substantial work in various divisions across ABA, connect with leadership, build a network, and make a difference.
Primary Responsibilities
A user experience internship opportunity is available within our Communications group’s Web Team. The team manages ABA’s website, ABA.com, which is ABA’s primary vehicle to provide relevant content to the banking industry and drive ecommerce. Through this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in an enterprise web team, comprised of user experience professionals, UI/UX developers, content strategists, web content producers, analytics and digital marketing experts, and analysts. You will join us as we plan our move from an MVC to headless CMS implementation, and work to integrate a CDP and personalization suite, both of which projects will be part of your work with our team. In this role, you will also work closely with our marketing department and cross-functionally with many other teams at the organization to provide and enhance the way we deliver member services and advocacy resources online.
+ Meet with key stakeholders to understand project goals, parameters, and requirements; perform competitive analyses and conduct necessary usability research; and prepare recommendations in collaboration with other web team members
+ Create wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes to support communication with stakeholders and to support usability testing
+ Work with web team staff to make best practices and data-based recommendations for better content, site functionality, or usability
+ Apply content, accessibility, SEO and design standards from our living style guide to standardize content across the site; develop and incorporate new standards
+ Draft user stories to support development work, and participate in Agile ceremonies to provide acceptance criteria, definition of “done”, and review story delivery against requirements; support QA and regression testing efforts
+ Regularly update website content and features to reflect ABA issues, events, community engagement, and other communications
+ Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills
HTML and CSS Proficiency, and working familiarity with JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
Ability to follow already established protocols/processes with excellent attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills, including and written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, and excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge of information architecture (IA), design best practices, and the elements of good user experience.
A portfolio of prior work and school products, with a clear explanation of the problem being solved and personal contributions to the end product.
Ability to report into ABA headquarters located in Washington, DC, at least two-times per week (relocation assistance or stipend is not included for the intern program). Internship positions are not eligible for healthcare insurance coverage.
Optional Skills (nice to have):
Experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, WordPress or Drupal).

Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior ($25.00 an hour)
Salary Band Range:
$15.00 - $37.50 - $60.00
