Job Summary
To provide through professional practice as a Nurse Practitioner for primary health care services for students, emphasizing promotion of health and prevention of disease. To incorporate medical services within the professional parameters of dual certified Nurse Practitioner (Family or Adult/& Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) through collaboration with Student Health Services physicians. Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing. There may be occasions where the employee will be asked to work during university closings as directed by their supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications
+ Completion of an educational program leading toward licensure and certification as a nurse practitioner. Master’s degree in nursing or health related field
+ Licensed and certified, or eligible for licensing/certification, as a nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Eligible for prescriptive authority or licensed to prescribe as a nurse practitioner in the State of Virginia. For physician assistant, must meet qualifications for approval of prescriptive authority per VA Board of Medicine regulations.
+ Knowledge and understanding of the scope of practice of the primary health care nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
+ Demonstrated clinical skills to provide acute, chronic and preventive health care.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide primary health care in an interdisciplinary collaborative setting.
+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Preferred experience as a nurse practitioner in a primary care setting.
+ Preferred experience with electronic health records.
+ Experience in a university Student Health Service preferred.
Conditions of Employment
This position is designated as sensitive. A finger-print based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
Working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5p.m. alternating 10a.m. to 7p.m
