What You'll Be Doing
**Job Summary:** Generally responsible for performing all aspects of safety for moderately complex engineering assignments and assisting in managing the H&S program for the company. This work will be performed under general supervision.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
+ Support TAR EHS Leader and Site EHS Leader.
+ Contact person for all safety related topics concerning operations and contractors.
+ Review maintenance activity schedule and align field safety staff (EHS Zone Reps) assignments to ensure area field safety presence is adequate for scheduled high risk work activity.
+ Establish themselves as the main focal point person or responsible person in the field to ensure that Health and Safety Compliance is being performed during the pre-tar, execution, and post-tar work activities. All compliance shall be in alignment with all company Policies and Procedures.
+ Support alignment with the third-party safety “Boots on the ground” resources in the field. They will ensure that they are engaging the worker population in the field and ensure that the performance of Safety Field Compliance Audits and “FREE” Observations are being performed to identify positive and negative work actions and identifying and reducing worker and workplace exposures.
+ Ensure that the third-party safety and company administrators are accurately and efficiently processing the Safety Field Compliance Audits and “FREE” Observations to effectively provide vital safety information to TAR management for hazard awareness, safety trends (KPI’s) and daily status reporting.
+ Facilitate, assist and support the daily shift communications meetings with operations and contractor workforce. Ensure that all identified hazards, trends, concerns or updates are effectively addressed and provided to the workforce to ensure effective communications standards have been applied.
+ Inspect and control housekeeping issues.
+ Oversee and manage the issuance and continuous management of resources/supplies for the Safety Supplies vendor (Vallen). Ensure that all items are available for use and that all requirements, inventories and services are being operated to effectively address our needs and standards.
+ Ensure that all hazard assessments (JSA, Fall Protection, Line Cut/Line Break, etc.) and permitting requirements are being followed and understood.
+ Support with safety documentation. This includes hazard control strategies, permit requirements, roles and responsibilities, and emergency contact lists.
+ Help conduct risk assessments (JSA/PTP) by identifying potential hazards related to work activities (HEHW, CSE, Line Breaking/Cutting)
+ Help plan for logistics of safety and emergency response per job activities. This would include portable eye-wash/safety showers, fire extinguishers and spill containment/kits in critical locations if needed.
+ Ensure all workers attend 1st day LSR Onboarding.
+ Lead and support daily “toolbox” meetings to address specific risks for daily tasks.
+ Ensure all workers attend Safety meetings and understand site rules and emergency procedures.
+ Help manage permit requirements for high-risk activities such as HEHW, CSE, etc. Want to ensure that all necessary precautions, like gas testing, fire watch, appropriate PPE are in place before work begins.
+ Actively monitor the worksite by conducting safety walks, audits, and spot checks. Look for unsafe behaviors, improper use of PPE, blocked emergency access points.
+ Monitor for signs of worker fatigue and promote adequate breaks.
Ideal Background
**Education:** Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Public Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field from an accredited university is required.
**Certification:** No certification is required for this position.
**Experience:** This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial safety, risk management and/or industrial hygiene experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
+ Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
+ Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene and Safety principles and practices.
+ Extreme attention to detail.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects efficiently and effectively.
+ Ability to perform work on an HSE project as directed, conduct required activities, maintain required documentation, and construct a meaningful report of activities.
+ Ability to participate on a small team to deliver on commitments.
+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
+ Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Abilities Required:
+ Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
