Job Description Summary
Responsible for managing the planning of material requirements and their execution in accordance with production schedules. This includes managing the teams who are determining demand forecasts, creating purchase orders, coordinating transportation, and ensuring timely delivery to manufacturing facilities. Additionally, this position oversees inventory management and control systems, including tracking stock levels, minimizing waste, and optimizing warehouse operations. The role also involves monitoring supply chain performance metrics, implementing process improvements, and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve operational excellence.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
• Develops and implements material procurement strategies to support production plans and ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and components.
• Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as purchasing, logistics, quality assurance, engineering, and finance teams.
• Monitors inventory levels and adjusts stocking policies accordingly to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excessive holding costs.
• Implements lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and eliminate waste.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to material sourcing, import/export regulations, and environmental standards.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to material shortages or delays in delivery.
• Conducts regular audits to assess inventory accuracy, inventory turnover, and adherence to quality control procedures.
• Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in material procurement and inventory management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management software.
• Experience working with automated material handling systems and warehouse management systems.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Understanding of basic accounting concepts related to costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
• Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master's degree preferred but not required.
