    Job Description:

    We’re seeking a forward-thinking communications leader who excels at execution and strategic collaboration to help shape the future of our surgical robotics and digital surgery business. The Senior Manager, Innovation Communication - Surgery will sit out of our Santa Clara, CA office location on a hybrid work schedule.

     

    Purpose: As Senior Manager, Innovation Communications for Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s Surgery business, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to create strategic communications programs that drive business outcomes.

     

    This is a comprehensive communications role, prioritizing thought leadership and earned/owned media strategy, as well as critical messaging and content development, social media and campaign activations, employee and culture communications, and issues management.

     

    This role is aligns with someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, can connect the dots across teams, and who brings exceptional writing skills, strategic intuition for business, and a bias for action. Building a deep understanding of surgery, connected technology, clinical and medical data, and healthcare markets will be required as a foundation to build and deploy an integrated global communications plan.

    Responsibilities

    + **Strategic Communications** : Help develop and implement an integrated corporate communications strategy that drives business priorities, aligns with company culture, and leverages industry trends. This includes thought leadership, earned/owned media, and brand storytelling.

    + **Narrative & Internal Communications** : Collaborate to craft impactful messaging for key announcements, speeches, presentations, and internal campaigns. Ensure a cohesive and consistent narrative to engage internal and external partners.

    + **Content Creation:** Develop high-quality content --including press releases, long-form pieces, video, social media campaigns, employee messages, presentations and web content – that translates complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, actionable communications for diverse audiences.

    + **Media & Public Relations:** Develop and implement programs that drive storytelling across owned, earned and paid media to support innovation landmarks, portfolio strategy, and clinical data for multiple collaborator audiences.

    + **Reputation & Crisis Management:** Act as a strategic advisor, developing and driving robust communication plans to safeguard and enhance our reputation.

    + **Team Leadership & Collaboration:** Build influence with and serve as a trusted communications counselor to leaders and cross-functional teams, ensuring all initiatives are supported by a strong communications framework.

    + **Analysis & Insights:** Track and report on key communications metrics, using data to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

    Qualifications

    + Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required in communication, journalism, PR, public affairs, or closely related field.

    + 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields.

    + Proven ability to build trusted relationships and drive influence with executives, engineers/scientists, and cross-functional partners.

    + Exceptional attention to detail with superior writing and presentation development skills.

    + Proven track record of successful, independent public relations/communications, corporate communication, science communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements.

    + Deep understanding of media and business analytics, traditional media, digital and social platforms and strong experience with national and local consumer, professional/trade and social media.

    + Experience running internal communications programs focused on building culture and activating an organization around shared business objectives.

    + Experience in managing budgets, agency partners, and resource allocation across large critical projects.

    + Current or past work experience in both external communications or marketing and organizational communications is preferred.

    + Healthcare or medical technology communications experience is preferred.

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

    $120,000 to $207,000 USD.

    Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

    Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
