The Research Project Coordinator oversees multiple cross-functional projects from inception to completion, requiring a candidate that is a resourceful, detail oriented, and collaborative team member with excellent project management skills. This position also plays a critical role in identifying, pursuing, and securing grant funding to support SUNY's goal of doubling research.
This position is situated in the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development and reports to the Director of Research Programs and Industry Partnerships.
Responsibilities:
+ Assist in planning and implementation of cross-functional projects, including:
+ Facilitating definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
+ Defining project tasks and resource requirements.
+ Tracking project deliverables using appropriate tools.
+ Managing day-to-day operational aspect of a project.
+ Facilitating regular project status meetings, communicates updates, and providing timely reports to stakeholders, including project status, issues, risks, and resolutions.
+ Assist in writing compelling funding proposals and applications that effectively communicate the organization's goals and funding needs.
+ Identify potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, industry, and other sources.
+ Attend relevant webinars and training courses and report findings back to the Director.
+ Assist in project management of Research Office projects related to STRIVE goals as needed.
+ Collaborate with external program managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and data for proposals and projects.
+ Seek new funding and collaboration opportunities by networking and attending relevant research and industry events, conferences, and meetings.
+ Monitor grant requirements and reporting deadlines, develop grant narratives and supporting application documents as needed.
+ Maintain a comprehensive database of funding opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
+ Contribute to and help coordinate multiple projects from the Research Office, from inception to completion, to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business, public administration, communications, or in the field of science, technology or engineering).
+ Personal and professional integrity that communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.
+ Proven experience in writing and development.
+ Strong research and analytical skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ At least 3 years or prior experience in a project management role.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in a related field.
+ Experience with federal grants and grants.gov.
+ Certification in grant writing or nonprofit management.
+ Project Management Professional certification.
+ Project management experience handling multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, utilizing tools and methods for planning and implementation.
+ Experience with online grant application portals, databases, and grant management software.
