    Custom Job Purpose:

    This position exists to perform responsible professional work in obtaining, implementing, and managing grant funds to support the initiatives of the Multiple Pathways Education Department. The Grants Coordinator position will also support the production of grant proposals and manage certain grant-funded projects.

     

    Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Process and formulate budgets for grant proposals and other applicable forms that accompany grant applications. Maintains and archives files on funded projects and grant deliverables. Works directly with school and department personnel to develop grant applications for all programs in the Multiple Pathways Education division. Provides technical assistance and review discretionary and competitive grant applications to include ascertaining method of submission, keeping records of what is required, organizing materials, obtaining signatures on required forms, and submitting proper documentation to BoardDocs. Assures quality project designs through collaborative planning, determines objectives and management plans. Interprets state and federal requirements and specializes in technical writing. Substantial time is spent on managing projects and planning the implementation of Workforce Education grants within the schools and postsecondary partners. Maintains continuous contact with employees throughout the district and with community-based groups. Analyzes areas of need and facilitates a plan to design and align grant-funded projects with Workforce Education priorities. Obtains School Board approval of grant proposals and reports on district grants status. Coordinates district grants planning between program managers for certain entitlements where this is required by the State and/or the Superintendent. Works within the SAP system to monitor grant and department budgets. Follows School Board procedures to perform all tasks associated with business contracts including obtaining signatures, creating vendor numbers, and funds reservations.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Considerable knowledge of School Board administrative policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel and the public. Ability to prepare, maintain records and reports. Knowledge of federal grants requirements and application procedures. Knowledge of and skill in using language arts. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Business, Accounting or Public Administration preferred. Considerable experience in project budgets preferred. Three to five years' relevant work experience is strongly desired.

    Work Context:

    Requires some sitting and standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires working both indoors and outdoors. Requires sitting for most of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the district.
