    Job Title: Senior Technical Manager, Transit and Rail Engineering

     

    Duties: Apply high-level transit and rail engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure and transportation engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation. Perform professional transit and rail engineering work and conduct more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, utilities, building, transportation corridors, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, assist with laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades to guide construction, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos. Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of engineering/construction challenges and programs. Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, transit authorities, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development. Remain current in latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices. Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.     Requirements: Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Transportation Engineering, Systems Design Engineering, or related plus 5 years of experience as a Transportation Engineer, Train Engineer, Systems Design Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Preparing Signaling and Train Control System (S&TCS) Interface Control Documents (S&TCS to Traffic Controller, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), TVS, Digital Input/Output Systems). Designing and preparing subway signaling equipment layout on track and in Signal Equipment Room (SER). Preparing and delivering the project alignment application data, signal plan, crossover coordinates, track maps, and guide-way database using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and IBM Rational DOORS.
