Job Summary
The**Office of Student Affairs**with the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine ( SFESOM ) works closely with medical students to ensure they feel supported and successful during their time at the SFESOM by facilitating the personal and professional development of the students through accessibility, professionalism, collaboration, and inclusivity.
The Regional Campus Student Affairs Coordinator, in coordination with and support from the Salt Lake City Medical Campus ( SLCMC ) Student Affairs team, assists and counsels Southern Utah Regional Medical Campus ( SURMC ) students on matters pertaining to financial aid and debt management, scholarships, scheduling, career exploration advising, and identity development activities. Program coordination also extends to involvement in and completion of recurring projects and event support. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Regional Administration of SURMC .
Opportunity for advancement to Coordinator II level position with additional responsibilities is available (but not guaranteed) after one year of employment if performance standards are met.

Responsibilities
All responsibilities are carried out with the support of and in alignment with the SLCMC .
+ Point of contact for SURMC students, faculty and guests; maintains a welcoming and positive environment.
+ Assists medical students with academic advising, scheduling, career exploration, and professional identity development activities.
+ Supports Scholarship & Financial Aid team by providing assistance to students and families on federal, state, and private funding options; may guide students through the financial aid process and assists with FAFSA and other loan application processes.
+ Provides information and guidance to medical students on all academic related issues such as graduation requirements and exceptions, visiting student learning opportunities, career advising including CV review, and registration.
+ Creates student schedules by utilizing student registration system to ensure accurate scheduling processes; runs detailed and timely reports that may be needed across units; assists with holds on student’s records.
+ Advises students on completion of graduation requirements and application for residency programs through individual advising appointments and group presentations; closely tracks student progress, utilizing notes when advising students.
+ Supports major Student Affairs event committees and events.
+ Communicates and collaborates with the SLCMC Student Affairs Office to support and streamline student advising and events in a holistic manner.
+ Supports**professional identity formation and RealMD**activities, events, and initiatives as assigned.
+ Stays aware of the variety of academic opportunities available to students to meet their interests and/or specialty goals with proactive student outreach.
+ Collaborates and engages with the SLCMC Curriculum Office on processes and class meetings.
+ Facilitates credentialing process including EMR access, door access, Immunization compliance, etc.
+ Orders supplies and catered meals for events.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus one year of directly related experience
Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Previous experience working with students in a higher education environment.
