    Position Summary

    This manager will lead a diverse team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) by implementing best practices for supporting individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain competitive, integrated employment. The Manager will develop relationships with local businesses and industries to facilitate successful job placement of those we support. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required documentation. Additionally, this manager will carry a small caseload of individuals for whom they will provide direct support.

    Essential Duties

    + Interview, hire, and train qualified staff to provide quality employment services to individuals supported by OBI.

    + Supervise and provide ongoing development and support to all workforce development staff.

    + Approve and submit all required documentation on time, including but not limited to ICARE service logs, Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) reports, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) back-up documentation, and other documentation as needed for the department.

    + Coordinate support and resources to ensure that the needs of individuals working in the community are fully met, whether in a new or an existing job placement.

    + Research emerging trends in workforce development to remain abreast of specific trends of the local labor market.

    + Carry a small caseload and provide effective job development, coaching, or other authorized services directly.

    + Transport participants using personal and/or agency vehicles (use of personal vehicle is required; agency vehicle may be assigned for specific purposes – i.e., wheelchair transport, or transporting someone who cannot safely ride in a personal vehicle, etc.)

    + Professionally represent OBI in the local chambers of commerce, at industry specific meetings, and in the broader community.

    + Meet regularly with department staff as well as coordinators of person-centered planning.

    + Develop professional and effective working relationships with key stakeholders such as Coordinators of Community Services (CCSs), employers, DORS and DDA representatives, and clients and families/caregivers.

    + Participate as an active member of OBI’s Management Team.

    Non-Essential Duties

    + Attend external meetings, conferences and trainings as needed/requested by supervisor.

    + Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Minimum of 3 years of successful experience working in a vocational setting with individuals who have disabilities; experience may include but is not limited to: vocational rehabilitation, work readiness instruction, marketing/staffing/business relations, apprenticeships leading to employment, etc.

    + Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.

    + High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

    + Experience with, and a solid understanding of, the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) service system and the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) strongly preferred.

    + Strong professional written and oral communication skills.

    + Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record and daily access to a reliable vehicle.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office and a broad understanding of (or ability to learn about) technology that supports workforce development and/or virtual service delivery, including apps such as ICARE, Zoom etc.

    Additional Requirements

    + Required to pass the Certified Employment Services Professional (CESP) exam and maintain CESP certification

    o This is required by the DDA; therefore, the ability to serve in this position is contingent on                         receiving and maintaining this certification.
