Agronomy Seed Specialist Intern

Primary Objective: To gain knowledge in the agronomy and seed industry while assisting Innovative Ag Services in the sales and promotion of our products and services.
Major Accountabilities:
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
Seed Operations
+ Assist with seed selection, sales, and product placement
+ Work with Seed Sales Specialist to collect, distribute and ship seed products
+ Work directly in production fields to observe seed performance
+ Understand how genetics, traits, and seed treatment impact crop success
+ Interpret agronomic data for customer recommendations
+ Participate in planned training and agronomy coordination meetings
+ Other duties as assigned
Field Scouting
+ Support early season field scouting and stand evaluations
+ Scout assigned producer fields providing written feedback to immediate supervisor and grower
+ Promote the sales of all Innovative Ag Services products and programs
+ Communicate on a regular basis with sales and location team members informing them of observations and crop development of assigned producers and fields
+ Assist with in-season seed and Precision Ag activities as assigned
+ Report conditions and concerns to the Innovative Ag Services Seed Specialist
+ Communicate any landowner concerns to immediate supervisor
Technical & Professional Development
+ Use agronomy software, digital scouting tools, and field mapping systems
+ Utilize data analysis, problem solving, and reporting abilities
+ Understand and exhibit agronomic decision-making based on data
+ Build excellent communication and customer service
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
+ Strong interest in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Business or related field.
+ Computer skills including Word and Excel.
+ Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
+ Excellent attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
+ Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form.
+ Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
+ Must be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college or university.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:
+ Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
+ Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 70 pounds. Also, flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Also, trunk strength and ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
