Description
This position is critical to the planning, coordination, and oversight of all operational activities within the Information Technology (IT) department. It also provides leadership and support for IT solutions that strengthen mission-critical business operations. Key responsibilities include ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of technology services, managing IT projects, overseeing administrative tasks, and monitoring timelines and performance.
The Chief Financial Officer (CIO) is also responsible for maintaining clear communication between technology vendors and management, including vendor contract management and collaboration with the CFO to negotiate pricing and contractual terms. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, effective communication and a comprehensive understanding of both IT and administrative processes.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Lead and manage all technology projects and initiatives, ensuring successful execution and delivery.
+ Communicate project progress, accomplishments, and overall status to management; create and maintain project schedules; manage team deliverables; and facilitate project meetings.
+ Oversee procurement processes by submitting and tracking requests, managing implementation checklists, and coordinating with the CFO.
+ Identify and mitigate risks across technology projects to ensure smooth execution, compliance, and minimal disruption.
+ Secure necessary resources, monitor budgets, timelines, and dependencies, and escalate issues as appropriate.
+ Collaborate with vendors and consultants to ensure timely delivery of projects and services.
+ Plan and coordinate special initiatives such as grant applications, audits, and emerging projects.
+ Provide oversight of IT operations and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, resource allocation, and negotiation.
+ Partner with business leads and stakeholders to align technology implementations with organizational needs.
+ Identify opportunities for cost-effective IT investments, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
+ Review and negotiate hardware and software contracts, pursuing master agreements to maximize cost savings.
+ Develop, maintain, and regularly test the organization’s business continuity plan.
+ Drive innovation through emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud, etc.)
+ Recruit, mentor, and retain high performing IT staff.
+ Ensure an environment of continuous training opportunities for IT staff.
+ Provide leadership and oversight for IT infrastructure to ensure reliable systems, networks, and end-user support.
+ Coordinate communications to leadership and staff regarding upcoming technology implementations and changes.
+ Maintain and oversee software and hardware inventory, acquisitions, and maintenance contracts in collaboration with the CFO.
+ Assist in the facilitation of hardware and software acquisitions and maintenance contracts under the direction of the CFO.
+ Establish and report on KPIs related to IT performance, cybersecurity, system uptime, and satisfaction.
+ Serve as the Agency Security Officer (ASO), partnering with management and staff to develop, implement, and maintain prudent security procedures and internal controls.
+ Oversee IT risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity, data privacy, and operational risks.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable nonprofit regulations, data protection laws (e.g., HIPPA, FERPA), and funder-specific requirements.
+ Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and system reviews to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
+ Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures to strengthen security, compliance, and accountability.
+ Oversee staff training and awareness initiatives on cybersecurity, data protection, and compliance best practices.
+ Collaborate with auditors, legal counsel, and regulators to demonstrate compliance.
+ Monitor emerging risks and evolving regulations, adapting IT policies and procedures.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure IT supports programmatic and mission-driven goals.
+ Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, cultivating a “tech-enabled” culture.
+ Engage with the Board (as necessary) on IT strategy, cybersecurity, and risk.

Requirements
You must have:
+ Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, IT or Technology administration, or related field. BSC/BA in computer science, engineering, or relevant field;
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in administrative information technology/business management roles or related field.
+ Exceptional project management skills with a successful track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
You should have:
+ MSc/MA is preferred.
+ Proven leadership and management skills in directing IT teams and cross-functional initiatives.
+ Strong project management skills, including planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
+ Skilled in vendor negotiation, contract management, and strategic partnerships.
+ Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to assess risks, evaluate options, and recommend effective solutions.
+ Ability to align technology initiatives with organizational strategy and business needs.

+ Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, systems architecture, and enterprise applications.
+ Strong knowledge of IT governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
+ Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, data privacy regulations, and business continuity planning.
+ Understanding of financial management related to IT, including budgeting, cost analysis, and contract negotiation.
+ Awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practices to support innovation and long-term organizational growth.
Salary Description
$170,000-$180,000/year
