    This position is responsible for providing assistance to and supporting the Business & Economic Development BU. The intern will be a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is in a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study.

As our Business and Economic Development Intern, you'll be the bridge between data and decisions, the connector between opportunity and impact, harnessing the power of information to fuel economic growth and transform communities.     Job Duties/Resonpsibillties

    1. Customer and Account Support:

    + Assist Economic Development Project Managers with prospect due diligence, site tours, and power-related questions.

    + Help track touchpoints in CRM and maintain prospect pipelines.

    2. Site Selection Support:

    + Compile and maintain site/building inventories; verify electric serviceability and capacity.

    + Coordinate internal feasibility checks for candidate sites (substation proximity, feeder capacity, redundancy, outage history).

    + Assist with Requests for Information/Proposals (RFIs/RFPs) from state/local ED partners and site selectors.

    3. GIS and Mapping:

    + Create maps showing infrastructure (substations, feeders, transmission lines), sites, and community assets.

    + Maintain geospatial layers and produce presentation-quality visuals for proposals and partner meetings.

    4. Market and Industry Research:

    + Analyze target industries (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, logistics, life sciences) for power needs, growth trends, and site criteria.

    + Build company prospect lists and profile potential projects (load size, timeline, location preferences).

    5. Load and Infrastructure Analysis:

    + Pull and analyze load data for prospects and key accounts; create preliminary load forecasts.

    + Work with planning/engineering to summarize electric service options, interconnection timelines, and high-level costs.

    Minimum Requirements

    Key disciplines to consider

     

    - Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, and other related disciplines

    Key qualifications

    - Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, rates, legal, and external partners

     

    - Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and ideally GIS or BI tools

    - Interest in energy systems, infrastructure, and regional economics
