    Conducts inpatient and outpatient breastfeeding assessments and provides individualized assistance to patients and their babies.

    Job Requirements:

    Education: BSN preferred.

     

    Experience: Two years minimum work with breastfeeding mothers and babies. In hospital Lactation Consultant experience preferred.

     

    License/Certification Required: Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse; Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) required. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) preferred. Must obtain their IBCLC within 18 months of starting in LC role.

     

    Skills: Strong knowledge base, customer service orientation, excellent interpersonal skills, strong problem solving, good writing, presentation, communication, and organization skills.
