Job Title: Merchandise - Assistant Manager Department: Field Division: Operations Reports To (Title): Store Manager Effective Date: Exempt / Non-exempt Non-exempt Direct Reports: Hourly Associates Position Specific Functions: Merchandise Assistant Manager: 1. Assist Store Manager in the management of freight flow a. Assist with compliance of Dollar Tree Freight Flow Best Practices, Policies and Procedures b. Utilize Store Order Worksheet as a planning tool to maintain high productivity 2. Meet or exceed productivity standards a. Effectively utilize available tools such as U-boats and pallets b. Assist the Store Manager in training, motivating and coaching stocking crew to maximize productivity c. Track stocking crew productivity using stocking worksheet 3. Assist the Store Manager in ordering and stocking all merchandise needs, including frozen & refrigerated. a. Adhere to Freight Flow Best Practices b. Follow merchandising and display standards c. Ensure all Associates follow the Product Rotation Policy and Procedure when restocking to guarantee freshness d. Follow Mark Up and Mark Down Policy and Procedure for close and outdated merchandise Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position. Responsible for assisting with merchandising and freight processing tasks that have been delegated and assigned by the Store Manager. Assist with the hiring, training and development of store associates as delegated by the Store Manager Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager Able to perform all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates and supervisors Maintain all areas of the store, including the stockroom and sales floor, to company standards to include recovery When the Store Manager is not on the premises, direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Associates Process all SSC Corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests and any additional communications related to store activities as delegated by the Store Manager Assist the Store Manager on the receipt and return of DSD merchandise o Follow the VIP and DSD Policies and Procedures Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required. Prefer prior retail and management experience Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills. Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to work in a high energy, team environment. Printed: 4/24/2017 Page - 2 e. Clean and maintain freezers and refrigerated coolers to health code standards as applicable i. Routinely monitor the temperature of freezers and refrigerated coolers ii. Post and understand emergency procedures for the freezers and refrigerated coolers f. Ensure proper signage is in place including Guaranteed Fresh 4. Assist the Store Manager in maintaining stockroom organization a. Maintain category integrity of back stock utilizing stockroom map b. Ensure that store supplies and fixtures are organized c. Ensure that stock room is recovered daily d. Ensure that the stockroom is prepped for truck receipt 5. Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the sales floor is sales effective on a daily basis a. Ensure that stock is properly merchandised and displayed per company guidelines b. Maintain aisle/wing stacks per company guidelines c. Ensure that all Associates maintain a safe store environment d. NEAT, CLEAN and FULL! 6. Assist the Store Manager in planning, merchandising and maintaining Clip Strips and Power Panels with sales effective items a. Ensure that the Clip Strip and Power Panel merchandise tie-in with adjacent fixtures or merchandise b. Develop and take advantage of seasonal tie-in opportunities 7. Assist the Store Manager in planning and implementing monthly Sales Planners a. Review monthly Sales Planners with store management team b. Determine how monthly Sales Planner applies to your store c. Assist in the completion of store orders as delegated and needed d. Establish timeline for implementation of monthly Sales Promotional Planner e.
