Description
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
This role will be responsible for the heartbeat of satellite production facility delivery. They will develop and deliver plans for facility layout and function, and will unite production teams to achieve mission success. This individual will work with a wide variety of contractors, technicians, engineers, architects, and Amazon leaders to develop and deliver a vision that meets our satellite production goals.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-level CAD models, rate calculators, and equipment lists for production and product flow through the factory
- Drive a unified production vision across a variety of different product lines within available constraints
- Deliver plans for layout and construction of factory cells based on co-development with area leaders to various stakeholders including architects, general contractors and internal Amazon real estate teams
- Work with internal and external teams to deliver rate capable facilities to meet timelines
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience in AutoCAD
- 3+ years of experience with project management, schedule, and budgeting
- Ability to read and interpret architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- A proven competency standing up manufacturing sites for new products and systems, including facility, factory, and work cell development
- Experience in building deliver high-level production rate calculations and models.
- Experience within high-volume aerospace as a manufacturing engineer, including both production and test.
- Professionally proficient with AutoCAD and/or other programs like Revit
- Experience with manufacturing utilities, including electrical systems, compressed air, chilled water, and LN2 systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
