As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the lead engineer on complex medical device development programs, providing deep technical guidance in electrical design, architecture, and integration. You will play a critical role in leading electrical engineering projects through all phases of the medical product development process while ensuring compliance with medical device regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
+ Lead electrical engineering projects through all phases of the medical product development process.
+ Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and standards.
+ Support the Director in managing the electrical engineering team, including mentoring junior engineers, reviewing work products, and helping shape team processes and best practices.
+ Provide feedback to management during the project quoting and planning process.
+ Participate in business development activities by providing technical expertise for proposal content and sales calls.
+ Drive targeted engineering execution across all phases of product development, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client expectations.
+ Function as the electrical engineering lead on product development programs.
+ Manage and report on metrics that measure the impact of the technical team on the larger organization.
+ Work with peers in the organization to identify and execute improvements to capabilities within their purview.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field.
+ 5-8 years of related experience.
+ Expertise in applications such as robotics, microfluidics, thermal control systems, optical detection, energy delivery, and medical device sensor technologies.
+ Experience with battery-powered devices, wearables, IoT, home healthcare devices, and wireless technologies.
+ Knowledge of EMC design practices and working knowledge of Embedded Programming Languages and Tools (C/C++, Python, BitBucket, etc).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Broad range of electrical engineering experience, including PCB schematic and layout, analog and digital design, FPGA design experience, and simulation tools.
+ Experience in rapid prototyping, test, bring-up, and test automation.
+ Board level BOM management and design for manufacturing and assembly.
+ Understanding of embedded hardware development and best practice algorithms.
+ Ability to work within and influence a multidisciplinary project team.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Familiarity with risk management activities (e.g. FMEAs).
+ Knowledge of FDA QSR Regulations, ISO standards, and medical device, diagnostic, and EMC standards.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Providence, Rhode Island.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
