Job Title: Embedded Firmware EngineerJob Description

The Embedded Firmware Engineer will develop, design, and test using DSP chips for power electronics. This role involves supporting and modifying existing firmware as well as developing new firmware for motor drive applications. Additionally, the engineer will generate documentation related to firmware and interfaces, ensuring traceability to software requirement specifications, software design descriptions, software verification and validation plans, software test plans, software user documentation, and software quality assurance plans.

Responsibilities

+ Develop and design firmware using DSP chips for power electronics.

+ Support and modify existing firmware for motor drive applications.

+ Develop new firmware for motor drive applications.

+ Generate documentation related to firmware and interfaces.

+ Ensure traceability to software requirement specifications and design descriptions.

+ Create software verification and validation plans.

+ Develop software test plans and user documentation.

+ Implement software quality assurance plans.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in firmware development, C++, and Embedded C.

+ Experience with bare metal firmware development for microcontrollers and DSPs.

+ Knowledge in motor control design and motion control.

+ Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, SPI, RS485, XCP, and CAN Bus J1939.

+ Experience with NXP or equivalent DSP firmware.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science.

+ 8+ years of experience required for Lead Engineer positions.

+ 3+ years of experience required for Staff level Engineer positions.

+ Experience in writing low-level device drivers.

Engineering teams and disciplines work closely together in a Waterfall work environment. The role provides an opportunity to support both new product development and next-generation high power technology, with the engineer's work directly impacting products going to market.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Cerritos, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $230000.00/yr.
