    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the daily activities of doctors by providing essential patient care, preparing patients and rooms for exams and procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. This position requires the ability to document vital signs, assist physicians during procedures, relay instructions to patients, and accurately document medical information.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform vital sign documentation and prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures.

    + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.

    + Provide essential patient care assistance to support the doctor's daily activities, such as greeting patients, taking vital signs, and preparing examination rooms.

    + Assist physicians with procedures by documenting medical history and case notes.

    + Relay instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person.

    + Collect patient data in person and by phone, documenting patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician’s review.

    + Complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, setting up of cases in the EMR system, and basic registration and updating of demographics.

    + Accurately document medical information in patient records.

    + Track and route test results to physician(s)/nurse practitioner(s) for review and communicate test results with patients when deemed appropriate.

    + Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling ancillary tests, reinforcing patient education, and performing triage as directed by physician/nurse practitioner.

    + Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies.

    + Perform basic computer skills in using electronic health records proficiently while conducting daily documentation and communications involved in patient care.

    + Process orders appropriately and accurately.

    Essential Skills

    + Completion of a Medical Assistant schooling program or certification.

    + 1+ year of medical assistant experience.

    + Proficiency in medical assisting tasks including EMR use, vital signs, patient care, phlebotomy, and medical terminology.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

    Work Environment

    The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with no evenings or weekends and a one-hour lunch break. You will work a 35-hour week alongside a Nurse Manager, three lead medical assistants, and one Phlebotomist on the clinical floor. Parking is available for $20 per month. Employees receive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the employer covering 75-80% of the cost, as well as two weeks' vacation, two personal days, six sick days, ten holidays, a 403B plan, and a term life policy.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valhalla, New York.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
