Job Title: Operational Nuclear Human Factors Engineer
Job Description
The Operational Nuclear Human Factors Engineer provides operational guidance on both near-term and longer-range projects in the area of Nuclear Human Factors Engineering. This role requires a deep understanding of operations, maintenance, and testing activities, including task characteristics, human-system interface characteristics, and technical requirements related to operational activities. The engineer will support the development of human-system interfaces, procedures, and training programs.
Responsibilities
+ Provide operational guidance in Nuclear Human Factors Engineering.
+ Analyze requirements for plant control and validate human-system interfaces using simulators.
+ Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents.
+ Support the development of normal, abnormal, and emergency operating procedures, along with alarm response procedures, surveillance procedures, and operator training programs.
+ Contribute to the Reliability Availability Maintainability program with plant operation input.
+ Develop acceptance criteria and prerequisites for Pre-operational, Startup, and selected Construction tests.
+ Participate in design reviews and initiate and respond to Corrective Actions in support of quality requirements.
+ Deliver engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
+ Approximately 4 years of experience in human factors.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience as a reactor operator.
+ 2 years of human factor experience.
+ Possession of a Reactor Operator (RO) license.
+ PPA Procedure Writer's Certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification at a commercial nuclear facility.
+ Experience in operating or outage positions requiring SRO or RO certification.
+ Experience delivering high-quality procedures for mission-critical facilities.
+ Familiarity with nuclear plant emergency procedures.
+ Experience with procedure writing, training, or surveillance test execution.
+ Knowledge of NRC and INPO Operator Training Guidelines.
+ Experience with NRC Regulatory Guide 0711 implementations and reviews.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Solid technical writing skills focusing on requirements, design, and description documents.
+ Clear understanding of the nuclear industry.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position, with nearly half of the team working remotely. The role supports the development of next-generation nuclear reactors, offering an extensive R&D environment and the opportunity to create new technology in nuclear power.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
