Description
The Sr Structural Engineer is a key contributor within the engineering team, responsible for leading complex projects from initial concept through final delivery. This role requires advanced technical expertise and the ability to integrate multiple disciplines to produce innovative, high-quality solutions. The position involves close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to ensure objectives are met and tailored outcomes are achieved. Responsibilities include managing project documentation, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and mentoring junior staff to support professional growth and project success.
Design & Documentation:
Create detailed structural designs and specifications that meet project requirements and performance goals.
Apply advanced modeling tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD) to improve design precision and efficiency.
Oversee construction administration tasks, including RFIs and shop drawing reviews, with minimal oversight.
Establish and enforce documentation standards to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations, providing actionable insights.
Prepare clear, comprehensive reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaboration & Client Engagement:
Serve as a technical resource for project teams, ensuring effective coordination across disciplines.
Work with project leadership to define scope, schedule, and budget for large-scale initiatives.
Engage clients throughout the project lifecycle, translating objectives into practical design strategies.
Anticipate challenges and develop solutions to maintain project progress.
Build and maintain strong client relationships to support long-term collaboration.
Quality & Compliance:
Lead reviews of complex project documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
Apply in-depth knowledge of codes and regulations throughout all phases of the project.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to ensure compliance.
Conduct site inspections to verify construction aligns with design intent.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and technical support to engineering staff.
Share knowledge through team learning sessions and collaborative problem-solving.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Specialized Expertise:
Perform advanced structural evaluations using techniques such as vibration analysis, composite design, and thermal impact assessment.
Upgrade existing structures to meet evolving codes and improve performance standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Education and Licensure:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Completion of Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure required.
• Typical employees have a minimum of 15 years of post-graduation professional engineering
experience and/or 10 years of professionally licensed experience.
Technology Skills
• Proficient in using technology and standard software tools and search engines.
• Proficient in using Revit and AutoCAD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
Company Benefits will be provided later in the intv process.
Workplace Type
This is a hybrid position in Detroit,MI.
