Job Title: Sr Exterior Trim Engineer - Mechanisms GlazingJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Sr Exterior Trim Engineer specializing in mechanisms and glazing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing parts of the exterior systems of a world-class vehicle, focusing on both styling and functionality. This role is ideal for someone who approaches their work with vigor and determination, and who is eager to learn and strive for perfection in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop exterior components for state-of-the-art vehicles, focusing on quality, reliability, functionality, mass, and cost efficiency.

+ Lead the packaging engineering design release and launch of exterior components.

+ Collaborate with a cross-functional studio and vehicle engineering team, prioritizing the overall benefit of the vehicle above individual systems.

+ Employ and develop world-class engineering tools and innovative approaches to support exterior systems.

+ Create complex CAD schemes and models, preferably using CATIA V5 or V6.

Essential Skills

+ Proven experience with CAD software, specifically CATIA V5 or V6.

+ Experience with thermoplastic and thermoset resin materials and class A manufacturing technologies, including painting.

+ Good understanding of computational tools available to design engineers.

+ Launch experience with vehicle exterior components.

+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 5 years of experience in vehicle exterior component design and development.

+ Experience with design areas such as side valences, sill trims, underbody aero shields, wheelhouse liners, spoilers/appliques, frunk/froot, rocker panels, glazing, OSRVM mirrors, and wipers.

+ Experience with plastics design, Class A surfaces, front crash aero features, lighting integration, module integration, tooling, resins, supply base, fit and finish, gap and flush, module concept, thermal expansion, structural design, and paint matching.

+ Five or more years of experience with the development of glazing, wipers, wash systems, or OSRVM.

Work Environment

This role involves working within a dynamic and fast-paced engineering team. You will utilize advanced engineering tools and software, such as CATIA, to create innovative vehicle exterior systems. The position requires collaboration with various departments to achieve a cohesive vehicle design.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
