In this role, you will engage with complex business challenges, harnessing modern tools and technologies to securely store, process, transform, and enrich terabyte to petabyte scale healthcare data. As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining optimal data pipelines to assemble large and intricate datasets, catering to the business requirements of various CVS lines of business. Collaborating closely with teams, you will craft tools to provide actionable insights and integrate them with consumer touchpoints.
As a Data Engineer, you will:
+ Communicate with business leaders to help translate requirements into functional specification
+ Develop broad understanding of business logic and functionality of current systems
+ Analyze data by writing and running SQL queries to troubleshoot possible issues on data loads
+ Deliver and document clean and functional code in accordance with business requirements
+ Engineer scalable, reliable, and performant processes to manage data
+ Collaborate closely with other Engineers, QA, Business Analyst, and Product Manager in your team as well as across the organization
+ Provide on-call support for production data pipelines and systems as part of a team rotation.
+ Proficient across the entire software lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production systems.

Required Qualifications
+ 5+ years of experience with SQL, NoSQL
+ 5+ years of experience with Python (or a comparable scripting language)
+ 5+ years of experience with Data warehouses (such as data modeling and technical architectures) and infrastructure components
+ 5+ years of experience with ETL/ELT, and building high-volume data pipelines (such as Azure Data Factory, Airbyte, Github Actions)
+ 5+ years of experience with reporting/analytic tools
+ 5+ years of experience with query optimization, data structures, transformation, metadata, dependency, and workload management
+ 3+ years of experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse architecture.
+ 2+ years of experience with DBT (Data Build Tools).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner while clearly measuring progress
+ Experience with cloud-based systems (Snowflake / Azure / AWS / GCP).
+ Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with at least one popular programming language (Python, .NET, or Java) and SQL constructs.
+ Strong experience with use of RESTful APIs
+ High level understanding of system deployment tasks and technologies. (CI/CD Pipeline, K8s, Terraform).
+ Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, async programming patterns, object-oriented design, parallel programming)
+ Strong experience with revision control (Git)
+ Experience writing and maintaining frontend client applications, React preferred.
+ High level understanding of big data design (data lake, data mesh, data warehouse, iceberg) and data normalization patterns
+ Demonstrated experience with Message Queuing technologies (Kafka / SNS / RabbitMQ / etc)
+ Demonstrated experience with Metrics, Logging, Monitoring and Alerting tools
+ Strong communication skills
+ Experience working with Cursor AI, Github CoPilot, or similar AI-enhanced development environments.
+ High level understanding of HL7 V2.x / FHIR based interface messages.
+ Ability to travel up to 20% or as needed.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$92,700.00 - $185,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
