Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
The Machinist will operate both computer and manually controlled machines to fabricate materials, ensuring quality production runs. The role involves loading and cycling parts, detecting machine malfunctions, and collaborating with co-workers to maintain efficient production processes.
Responsibilities
+ Operate lathes such as Haas TL-2, Manual lathes.
+ Monitor and complete production jobs on CNC Mills, checking parts to print and making offset changes.
+ Perform CNC setup and operation, including tech tools, loading programs, and adjusting work/tool offsets.
+ Utilize Haas controls to input G & M code and calculate feeds and speeds.
+ Set up, select tools, and operate parts with standard or custom specifications.
+ Study blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
+ Complete set-ups on multiple CNC Vertical Mills and operate computer numerical control machines.
+ Run production lots and communicate with co-workers to maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
+ Prove out and optimize programs and fixturing for repeat parts.
+ Troubleshoot and operate across multiple machines as needed.
+ Detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
+ Read prints and inspect parts for conformance, typically +/- .005 tolerance.
+ Check parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
+ Verify conformance of finished work pieces as specified.
+ Follow established safety protocols including required usage of PPE and help maintain a safe working environment.
+ Keep work area clean and organized.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years in a metal manufacturing environment with extensive experience in precision lathe and mill setup and operation.
+ Experience with all manual inspection equipment and FAI processes.
+ Capability of reading drawings and making offset changes independently.
+ Extensive machine shop/metal working skills and grasp of fundamentals.
+ Knowledge of using controls for Haas.
+ Ability to set up CNC machine loading programs, tools, fixtures, and setting tool offsets.
+ Ability to read and understand machine codes, set up own jobs, and run first parts.
+ Ability to set-up machining operations per setup sheets and adjust programs as needed.
+ Mastercam/G&M code experience is a strong plus.
+ Knowledge of using and interpreting results from various measuring tools.
+ Excellent blueprint reading skills.
+ Good math skills including trigonometry and ability to work with decimals.
+ Comfortable working with close tolerances and able to read and interpret engineered drawings in decimal and fractional inch units.
+ Ability to accurately inspect parts for conformance using basic measuring tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Manual machining skills are preferred but not required.
+ Trade school training and lean manufacturing environment experience are a plus.
+ Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Dependability, honesty, integrity, and a positive, proactive attitude.
+ Ability to use time productively, working with minimal supervision both individually and as part of a team.
+ Ability to work overtime as required.

Work Environment
Work in a clean machine shop and manufacturing environment, adhering to required safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The position operates on Day Shift (6am - 2:30pm) or Swing Shift (2:15pm - 10:45pm).
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Tualatin, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $56160.00/yr.
