Job Title: Utility Worker - Aluminum Extrusion and Tube Mill

Job Description

Join our dynamic team and take on the exciting role of a Utility Worker, where you will learn to operate equipment associated with aluminum extrusion and tube mills. As a new hire, you will start by mastering various roles and responsibilities across departments, helping to ensure that all quality objectives are met while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

+ Learn the operations of the press team within the aluminum extrusion department.

+ Ensure all quality objectives are met, operating or assisting in the operation of extrusion or casting equipment.

+ Report and review unusual conditions with the lead operator or supervisors.

+ Work collaboratively within a team to meet daily production goals.

+ Adhere to Union terms related to shift movement and flexibility.

+ Perform machine operating, quality checks, packing, inspecting, and learn various departmental functions.

+ Participate in cross-training and operate a forklift if required.

+ Handle physical demands including lifting weights, stepping over obstacles, and working with motorized equipment.

Essential Skills

+ 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, machine operating, or related fields.

+ Mechanical aptitude with experience or a strong interest in machine operation.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Ability to perform physical tasks and work in varying shifts, including weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in production support, inventory management, and assembly line work.

+ Knowledge of quality control and assurance processes.

+ Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment and handle loud machinery.

Work Environment

The work environment is non-climate-controlled, open, and spacious but can be loud due to machinery. Shifts are 8 hours, with potential for 10-12 hour shifts post-training. Work includes weekends, with at least one weekend off per month. Expect to work with grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids as part of the manufacturing process. Shift options include 2nd and 3rd shifts, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
