    Job Title: Maintenance Technician

    Job Description

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of all plant equipment.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.

    + Conduct machine repairs and installations, such as replacing motors, gear boxes, screw conveyors, threading piping, welding piping, repairing/replacing pumps, and using a cutting torch.

    + Carry out daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.

    + Diagnose and replace equipment parts with little or no direction.

    + Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.

    + Use assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment.

    + Familiarize with and observe all company safety rules and regulations.

    + Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on the Safety Committee.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance.

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience with stick/arc welding.

    + Minimum of 1-year experience using a plasma cutter and oxygen acetylene torch.

    + Minimum of 1-year operating aerial lifts.

    + Ability to work rotating weekend shifts.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience working in a slaughter/rendering plant.

    + Experience with high-pressure boilers, including blowdowns and chemical testing.

    + High mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose repair problems with motors and other equipment.

    Work Environment

     

    This position requires work in a rendering facility with conditions that may include wet or slippery floors and exposure to high heat or cold temperatures. The role involves working on 1st and 3rd shifts. Employees are expected to wear personal protective equipment.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
