    2nd Shift Food Services Worker

    Position Overview

    Join the Nutritional Services team at a leading hospital in Washington, DC, as a **Food Services Worker** . In this vital role, you’ll help ensure patients receive nutritious, customized meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences.     Key Responsibilities

    + Assemble and deliver patient meal trays according to dietary orders and individual preferences.

    + Customize trays with appropriate drinks, desserts, and sides.

    + Set up food service stations and assist with assembling breakfast trays.

    + Deliver meals and snacks to patient care units, replace missing items, and offer suitable alternatives.

    + Communicate with nursing staff regarding tray refusals or missing items.

    + Document food and liquid intake for designated patients.

    + Retrieve trays post-meal and ensure personal items are returned.

    + Assist with dishwashing, sorting, and cleaning food carts.

    + Distribute menus, explain meal selection processes, and assist patients with choices.

    + Monitor new admissions and diet changes, ensuring accurate menu delivery.

    + Fulfill special meal requests and obtain nursing staff sign-off.

    + Maintain inventory of hospitality carts and deliver bulk nourishments.

    + Provide clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office, including answering calls and entering patient preferences.

    + Generate standard reports and attend departmental in-services.

    Qualifications

    + Experience in food preparation or volume cooking preferred.

    + Strong customer service and communication skills.

    + Ability to operate basic computer systems for data entry and report generation.

    + Previous experience as a line cook is a plus.

    Work Environment

    + Hospital-based Nutritional Services department.

    + Refrigerated work areas and patient-facing responsibilities.

    + Shifts run from **2 PM to 11 PM.**

    + **Weekend availability is required** — no exceptions.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
