Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Warren, Ohio. This role is centered on managing sales and use tax processes, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions, and supporting financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee sales and use tax processes, including matching transactions in company's systems and resolving general ledger discrepancies.

• Approve and manage the filing of sales tax returns while handling registrations and communication with state tax authorities.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to sales tax transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

• Assist with financial reporting tasks beyond automated month-end processes.

• Provide documentation and support during audits, focusing on accounts receivable and leveraging Avalara's features.

• Collaborate on process enhancement initiatives, utilizing automation and software tools.

• Explore opportunities to expand responsibilities into broader accounting functions such as purchase orders and accounts payable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.

• 1–3 years of experience in tax accounting, ideally in manufacturing or distribution environments.

• Familiarity tax automation software.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

• Working knowledge of general ledger systems.

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate effectively with state tax authorities and internal teams
