Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Covington, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic environment by managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and driving process improvements. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger accounts.

• Conduct thorough financial analyses and variance reviews to ensure the accuracy of financial results.

• Reconcile complex accounts and develop models to support journal entries and financial reporting.

• Assist in maintaining compliance with internal controls, including adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and contribute to the development of improved procedural controls.

• Collaborate with various business units to resolve financial discrepancies and support organizational objectives.

• Identify and implement opportunities for improving financial and operational processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses to support decision-making by leadership.

• Support audits by providing required documentation and addressing inquiries from auditors.

Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

• At least 2-3 years of experience in accounting, including general ledger management and financial analysis.

• Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles and proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns and sales tax filings.

• Strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.

• Experience with corporate tax processes and compliance standards.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Certification such as CPA or active candidacy is preferred.
