About the Role:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team in Vancouver, WA. This role focuses on residential property accounting for a portfolio of approximately 25 apartment buildings and complexes, supporting both property-level and corporate accounting functions. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and experienced in managing full-cycle property accounting within AppFolio or similar software.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential properties (no commercial).
+ Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and general ledger maintenance.
+ Process and record rental income, deposits, and other incoming receipts.
+ Prepare and issue owner distributions on a monthly or quarterly basis.
+ Track and process accounts payable including property taxes, mortgages, and operating expenses.
+ Support and account for capital expenditures and small improvement projects.
+ Collaborate closely with property managers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of property-level financial data.
+ Prepare monthly financial reports for each property and assist in variance analysis.
+ Partner with the corporate accountant on consolidated reporting, audits, and special projects as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ 3+ years of property accounting experience, preferably in residential or multifamily real estate.
+ Proficiency with AppFolio preferred.
+ Strong understanding of accrual accounting and property-level financial statements.
+ Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
