Job Description
Position Purpose:
Performs specialized and complex chemical, bacteriological, and physical analysis relating to the Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated facilities. Ensure daily laboratory operations are completed and in compliance with the QA/QC Manual.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Collects samples of wastewater and wastewater residuals. Performs chemical, bacteriological, and physical analysis of samples. Analysis include: TVSS, TDS, pH, Electrical Conductance, Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Turbidity, Total Coliform.
+ Assists in analyzing and recording instrument readings and laboratory test results in order to maintain and adjust various plant processes.
+ Maintains plant laboratory records and QA/QC precision and accuracy documentation.
+ Provides data entry into HACH WIMS and LabCAL databases.
+ Participates in process control meetings.
+ Performs routine maintenance tasks.
+ Manages expenditures and inventory of supplies and equipment.
+ Evaluates and interprets test results. Alerts Operators and Project Manager of any unusual or possible critical situations that may upset or alter normal treatment facility operations.
+ Maintains and provides training on Laboratory Chemical Hygiene Plan
+ Works assigned work schedule as required performing job duties.
+ Develops and maintains training programs for both new and currently employed personnel.
+ Comply with all Veolia Water Safety and Environmental Compliance Policies and Programs.
+ Review subordinates' performance in accordance with Veolia Water policies and procedures
+ Performs all other work as required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
+ High School graduate or equivalent.
+ Must demonstrate an understanding of chemistry and bacteriology.
+ Must have either college degree in sciences or specialized study in laboratory analysis of water and wastewater and related experience.
+ Ability to use and interpret results of complex instruments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
+ Ensures that the Project Manager is informed of all day-to-day operations.
+ Must be able to work assigned shifts and to be available "on-call" for after hour's emergencies at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
+ Maintains a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in all laboratory analysis and reporting.
+ Experienced in computerized data entry.
+ Meets productivity goals and objectives as set by the Project Manager.
+ Maintains productivity goals and objectives at a high level of performance.
+ Ensures that all monitoring requirements of all local, state, and federal permits are satisfied.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
+ California Water Environment Association Grade II Laboratory Certification or the ability to obtain certification within one-year.
+ A valid California Driver's License.
Additional Information
**Pay Range:** $56,180.80 to $91,873.60 Per Year.
(Depending on candidates qualifications could hire as exempt or non-exempt union.)
