Job Title: Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Accountant to support our financial operations by preparing and posting journal entries, generating reports on overtime, inventory, and sales variances, and participating in cross-functional teams to improve processes and costs. The role involves performing various ad hoc analyses, supporting plant finance team members with capital expense and cost accounting functions, and assisting with the review and analysis of financial trends and variances.

Responsibilities

+ Support the month-end financial close process through preparation and posting of journal entries in alignment with accounting policies.

+ Create daily, weekly, and monthly reports on overtime, inventory, and sales variances, focusing on drivers of change.

+ Actively participate in cross-functional teams, including spending time on the manufacturing floor to understand and improve processes and costs.

+ Perform various ad hoc analyses and reporting as necessary.

+ Support members of the plant finance team with capital expense and cost accounting functions as needed.

+ Assist with the review and analysis of financial trends and variances.

+ Reconcile actual expenses compared to production reporting and recommend improvements to production costing.

+ Participate in various integration projects with a focus on efficiency, productivity, and internal controls.

+ Drive preparation of the annual budget with the Financial Analyst.

+ Update ERP system for annual budget standard costs.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of accounting experience.

+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

+ Advanced or intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

+ Experience with reporting.

+ Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations.

+ Cost and manufacturing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance.

+ Automotive industry experience.

+ Cost accounting experience.

Work Environment

This position operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with hours from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm or 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. There is not much flexibility on start times to ensure that daily reports are completed ahead of production leadership meetings. The company offers a competitive compensation package and is currently investing significantly in new equipment. The workweek typically ranges from 40 to 45 hours, which is less than most of the automotive industry, contributing to a stable and supportive work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ligonier, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
