Fiber Technician Opportunity – Travel to One Dedicated Location
Are you a skilled fiber technician looking for a change of scenery without the constant travel? We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented professional to support fiber installation and maintenance at a single out-of-town location. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in the field and is open to traveling for a longer-term assignment in one area—without bouncing from site to site.
Description
Level II
• Performs mid-level splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projects
• Advanced ability to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, and splice matrixes to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
• Ability to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility
• Independently and safely performs mid-sheath cable entry using proper tools
• Performs mid-level single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding large cable count numbering
• Ability to read/process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshooting
• Proficient in mid-level OTDR and power meter testing
• Ability to install and/or research installation procedures for all splice enclosures
• Performs basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization
• Effectively communicates with internal (training peers) and external stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, etc.), addressing issues as they arise and offering customer-centric solutions
• Responds timely to critical situations and emergency outages with an appropriate level of urgency
• Maintains full understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership
Level III
• Performs complex splicing projects for both new and existing customers with little to no direction
• Independently troubleshoots customer networks and reads/processes test results to provide customer deliverables
• Creates Smart Sheets and Excel trackers to accurately track project schedules and progress
• Independently reads/interprets prints and create work assignments for other Technicians
• Accurately collects all pertinent information from pre-job inspections and customer field meetings
• Supports operational leadership with the management of on-site project elements such as time, materials, documentation, production updates, tool, and equipment
• Professionally interacts with and communicate with external vendors, customers, subcontractors, and internal leadership to ensure accurate information is disseminated to all parties
• Proactively identifies and escalates project and personnel issues to operational leadership where appropriate
• Creates training plans and conduct training for other Technicians and serve as a leader in the field driving quality, efficiency, production, and safety
• Serves as a Culture Champion leading, driving, and participating in culture pillar events
• Utilizes expert-level splicing skills to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across Splicing group
• Possesses advanced understanding of all safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Strong experienced fiber ribbon splicers and testers, mass fusion splicers in a data center setting
• Each building has 154 6912 cables, we prep, splice, and test 6912s on OSEs at both ends (in separate data halls)
• We splice the 6912s to pre terminated to blunt pigtails that are installed by others
• Safety centric mindset is a must
• Ability to travel / work long hours

Work Environment
Time Shifts: 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM (currently running) will change to 3 shifts. 3 weeks on 1 week off or 6 days on 2 days off (client is accommodating different schedules)
• Onboarding: The tech will go through our training trailer for 1-2 days when they first arrive on site.
• They need steel toed boots, we provide everything else.
• We have a Project Coordinator who can help find accommodations.

Additional Information
$150 daily per diem (Hotel and food)
- If driving to work, paid hourly
- 73 cents/mile driving home
- Airport parking paid (If necessary)
- Flight paid (If necessary)
- Uber from airport paid (If necessary)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $40.00/hr.
