Data Center Technician

Overview:
This is a hands-on, onsite role supporting data center operations, infrastructure maintenance, and hardware lifecycle management. The position involves physical work such as cabling, racking and stacking equipment, and troubleshooting hardware issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in structured cabling, asset management, and working in fast-paced technical environments.
Work Environment:
+ Onsite Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
+ Occasional travel to Milwaukee data center
+ No remote work; must be reliable and punctual
+ Minimal weekend or evening work
+ Physical tasks include ladder use, under-floor work, and carrying tools
Key Responsibilities:
+ Respond to support tickets and document work in ServiceNow
+ Rack and stack IT hardware; install and maintain structured cabling systems
+ Perform basic network troubleshooting (fiber/copper testing, SFP cleaning/replacement)
+ Maintain inventory and asset records using DCIM tools (training provided)
+ Ship and receive network equipment; assist with asset tagging and lifecycle tracking
+ Support decommissioning efforts at the Franklin data center
+ Collaborate with field technicians and facilities teams as needed
Top Required Skills:
+ Attention to detail
+ Cable installation experience in a data center environment
+ Familiarity with ServiceNow and ITSM practices
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with shipping logistics and asset management
+ Familiarity with network testing tools (Fluke, Net Ally)
+ Understanding of copper vs. fiber cabling, multimode fiber
Ideal Candidate Profile:
+ 1–3 years of experience in a data center or similar technical environment
+ Comfortable with physical tasks and hands-on troubleshooting
+ Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
+ Backgrounds in wireless engineering, data center operations, or electrical work are a plus
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
