Description
Sr. Software Engineer will play an integral role in the development of our enterprise technology platform. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using React, Node.js, and Postgres DB • Develop high-quality, scalable, clean, and maintainable code. • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Designers, and other Engineers to define project requirements, write code and ensure successful delivery. • Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise and provide a timely resolution. • Contribute to the development of best practices and coding standards. • Contribute to the architecture of our applications. • Contribute to the design of an efficient, reliable, and effective database. • Create technical design documentation. • Make design/coding decisions keeping the customer experience at the forefront. • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. • Participate in code reviews, and guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures. • Accountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices. • Anticipate and communicates blockers and delays before they require escalation. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. • 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with React.Js and Node.Js (required) • Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS • Databases: SQL, PostgreSQL • Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices. • Solid knowledge of React and Redux principles. • Experience with CI/CD, Source Control such as Git. • Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, and documentation protocol as well as change management procedures. • Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities. • Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance. • Must demonstrate initiative and effective independent decision-making skills. • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle. • Experience with iPaaS, Salesforce Apex, Styled-components, heroku, heroku-connect (Preferred) • Proficiency in state management systems like: Flux, Redux. • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. What is the typical schedule for this position? (8-6 M-F? weekend work? Flexible hours?) • Standard business hours M-F How many hours a week does this position typically require? • 40+ hours per week What’s your best ballpark estimate of the percentage of time they spend on each duty of these duties? • Varies every sprint based on business needs and prioritization. Regarding any decisions, they are required to make for each primary duty, at what point do they need supervisor approval? (in other words, when do they need to escalate something to their supervisor?) • When production systems are impacted • When they notice issues that could jeopardize the quality or successful launch of a project • As needed. (Advancement opportunities?) • Could be promoted to Lead Sr. Software Engineer, Head of Software Development, MD and VP. How do you evaluate performance for this position and how often? • Review general performance every quarter. • Weekly 1:1 meetings with ongoing/real-time feedback • Tasks and project completion and tracking against strategic IT objectives.

• Can you walk me through the application and what these people would be doing day to day? o Think booking .com for insurance like price comparing sites for insurance, there's not something like this out there right now like this o What they are working on for the agent portal and have accomplished is the market place to find onsite policies and pay for it and not talk to an agent o Each team working with integrating an insurance carrier in different states; Then when that's done, integrating for multiple states together across insurance carriers o Want someone to come in and understanding architecture and how it's been done so far o Working with product teams to understand what it looks like for the next carrier o They use cutting edge tools, POC AI tools not out in the market yet; other AI agents used to leverage - AI would be a stand out nice to have - automating things with AI agents o Fundamentals need to be strong on being able to leverage tools based knowledge o Just started implementing messaging queue - RabbitMQ and Bull MQ • Would he entertain looking at frontend heavy, backend heavy to balance instead? o 60/40 frontend/backend o React or NextJs frontend o Node on backend o Everyone coming in as true fullstack o JavaScript is needed • Is Node being used as a fullstack language? • If someone has SQL and not Postgres, is that an issue? o Relational Database - Postgres is a plus to hit the ground running • Is this a Microservice based application? o Not microservices o Mono-repo - new thing going back to the old way of doing things in one large repo o Hosted on a salesforce product - behind the scenes AWS - but easy to work with o Not a lot of big enterprises used o Heroku is salesforce product - would be a stand out o Salesforce implementation in their environment - the business runs out of salesforce • Is the application hosted on a cloud platform? o Deployments handled by leads - doesn't need cloud deployment experience

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
