Job Description Summary
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to support a new NIH-funded R01 to study the role of libraries in the overdose crisis. Specifically, this project seeks to address the persistent gaps in naloxone access by using public libraries—a critical safety net and frequent site of overdoses—as a test case for overdose prevention. By building a national Public Libraries Cohort (PLC), the team will identify barriers and facilitators of naloxone uptake, track overdose outcomes, and test strategies to increase overdose reversal readiness in library settings.
The Research Coordinator will lead the daily operations of the PLC project, including development, validation, and maintenance of the study database and implementation of study experiments. The Coordinator will interface directly with study participants, collect and analyze qualitative data, and oversee survey administration. They will supervise research assistants, manage incentives for study participants, and draft regular project newsletters. The Coordinator will receive training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and will contribute to study design, implementation, data analysis, and dissemination of findings. The Coordinator will also help develop survey instruments and conduct pilot testing. This role is essential to ensuring the success of the PLC project and will provide valuable opportunities for professional development in mixed-methods research and project management.
This position is essential to expediting data collection and analysis and will contribute to the iterative process of qualitative data interpretation. Research Assistants will be integral members of the Cannuscio Lab, which regularly mentors students and trainees from across the university and the country.
Job Description
DUTIES:
+ Lead development, validation, and maintenance of the Public Libraries Cohort (PLC) database, ensuring accuracy and integrity of study data.
+ Coordinate and oversee recruitment of libraries into the PLC, including supervising research assistants conducting outreach and data entry.
+ Collect qualitative data through interviews with key stakeholders; oversee transcription and data management.
+ Analyze qualitative data, including coding and interpretation of interview transcripts, and support integration with quantitative findings.
+ Manage survey administration, participant incentives, and regular project communications (e.g., newsletters).
+ Help develop survey instruments and conduct pilot testing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Superior organization skills and strong attention to detail
+ Ability to balance multiple activities and coordinate activities across a busy, decentralized team
+ Experience independently managing or coordinating projects
+ Ability to work in a self-guided, fast-paced environment
+ Experience submitting grant reports and IRB protocols preferred
+ Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred in health sciences, public health, or related area
