    THE ROLE

    We are seeking an experienced and proactive Security Manager to lead and enhance all security aspects in our convention center and large-scale event operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, guests, exhibitors, property, and information during daily operations and major events.

     

    The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader with strong judgment, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and law enforcement agencies. This individual will bring expertise in event security management, crowd control, risk mitigation, and emergency preparedness.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Develop and implement comprehensive policies, procedures and protocols that provide a productive, efficient, and safe work environment for employees and customers.

    + Plan, direct, and supervise the work and personnel assigned to the security and event staff. Coordinate resources and personnel in security and event staff so that safety/security goals and objectives are met on a constant basis.

    + Oversee access control, surveillance systems, and emergency response plans.

    + Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.

    + Coordinate with other departments, including but not limited to event management staff, IT, operations / engineering, food & beverage management, human resources, and personnel to ensure a safe working environment for employees and guests.

    + Maintain liaison with outside agencies including but not limited to police, fire, and emergency services to promote positive relationships that further the overall goals of the organization.

    + Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational security standards.

    + Manage vendor relationships with security contractors and emergency response providers.

    + Coordinate interviews and hire adequate personnel assigned to the security and event functions.

    + Maintain the master schedules for all personnel assigned to the security and event staff.

    + Prepare oral and written reports as required in a clear and concise manner.

    + Update Emergency Operations Plan on an annual basis.

    + Investigate thoroughly all incidents assigned by the general manager or human resources, including but not limited to any form of harassment, alleged misconduct, criminal matters, and security concerns.

    + Work with Cincinnati Police Department, Cincinnati Fire Department, Tri-Health, EMS, and any other pertinent third-party service providers during events.

    + Provide proactive customer service to all guests to promote an event-friendly environment.

    + Provide responsive service to all customer requests, concerns, or complaints.

    + Provide introduction and orientation on an annual basis to all event staff at the direction of the Director of Event Management.

    + Provide periodic and annual safety training sessions.

    + Lead the venue safety committee.

    + Conducts shift briefings to provide necessary information.

    + Works directly with the Events Management team to organize event staff.

    + Follows company protocol and ensures the safety of all individuals on the premises.

    + When applicable, participate in post event meetings to provide detailed feedback which enhances repeat events or future events of similar genre.

    + Maintain the proper image and generate positive public relations with partners, clients, exhibitors, patrons, and staff.

    + Take direction and communicate with all users of the facility in an emergency situation.

    + Perform other duties as required or assigned by the General Manager and Director of Event Management.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Directly supervises the Security staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience

     

    + 5+ years security experience (venue experience preferred)

    + 3+ years of security experience at the supervisor or manager level required.

    + Experience working live or large-scale events preferred.

    + Military or law enforcement experience is desirable.

    + High School diploma or G.E.D. required; B.A. in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred.

    + Fluency in multiple languages is an asset.

     

    Skills and Abilities

     

    + Handle conflict, make common sense decisions and exercise proper action during high tension and stressful situations.

    + Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, preparedness & organization skills.

    + Ability to effectively supervise staff.

    + Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work irregular hours including, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

     

    Computer Skills

     

    To perform this job successfully, the individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
