Role Overview

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and API development, coupled with emerging expertise in GenAI technologies. This role blends full-stack development with advanced capabilities in semantic search, vector databases, and large language models. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong engineering fundamentals, delivery ownership, and a passion for innovation.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring some days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Key Responsibilities

+ Design, develop, and implement scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, GraphQL, ReactJS, and JavaScript

+ Build and maintain APIs and microservices for high-volume transactional systems

+ Develop intelligent solutions using Knowledge Graphs, Semantic Search, Vector DBs, LLMs, Langchain, and Prompt Engineering

+ Conduct code reviews and provide actionable feedback to peers

+ Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack

+ Participate in the full SDLC—from requirements gathering to deployment and release management

+ Write and maintain technical designs and documentation for transparency and reuse

+ Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical delivery with business goals

Required Qualifications

+ 4+ years of experience developing and implementing enterprise applications

+ Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and API development

+ Experience with Spring Security, GraphQL, ReactJS, and JavaScript

+ Hands-on exposure to GenAI technologies: Knowledge Graphs, Prompt Design, Semantic Search, Vector DBs, LLMs, Langchain

+ Solid understanding of unit, system, and functional testing methodologies

+ Experience working in large-scale, transaction-heavy environments

+ Proven ability to write and document technical designs and functions

+ Familiarity with release management and deployment best practices

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between **120,500 - 141,500k** depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
