    Southern Company Gas is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Regulatory Reporting Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of financial analysis and regulatory strategy—ensuring compliance, transparency, and excellence in our reporting to internal stakeholders and external agencies.

     

    You’ll play a critical role in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory filings, and contribute to complex rate cases and proceedings that shape the future of our industry.     What You’ll Do

     

    As a Regulatory Analyst II, you’ll be a key contributor to the financial and regulatory backbone of our organization. Your work will directly influence how we communicate with regulators, stakeholders, and internal leadership. You will:

     

    + **Drive Regulatory Filings:** Prepare and deliver accurate, timely disclosures for SEC and FERC filings related to our gas operations.

    + **Shape Financial Strategy:** Calculate rate of return and revenue requirements that inform strategic decisions and regulatory outcomes.

    + **Support High-Stakes Proceedings** : Contribute to complex rate cases by developing exhibits and meeting minimum filing requirements.

    + **Deliver Insightful Analysis:** Perform deep-dive financial reviews and ad hoc reporting to support business units and regulatory teams.

    + **Collaborate Across the Enterprise:** Partner with accounting, treasury, operations, and other departments to resolve regulatory issues and ensure alignment.

    + **Be a Regulatory Liaison:** Actively engage with key team members across all levels of the organization to gather insights, share findings, and drive results.

     

    What Sets You Up for Success

    Preferred Knowledge Areas:

    + **Regulatory Accounting & Rate Making:** Experience with regulatory frameworks, cost recovery mechanisms, and rate design principles.

    + **Plant Accounting:** Understanding of asset capitalization, depreciation, and utility property accounting.

    + **Tax Accounting:** Familiarity with tax implications in regulated environments, including deferred taxes andnormalization.

    + **Budgeting & Financial Planning** : Ability to support long-term financial forecasts, variance analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.

    + **Collaborative Mindset:** You thrive in a team-first environment, actively engaging with colleagues across departments to solve problems, share insights, and drive regulatory excellence.

    This role is Hybrid (in the office 4 days a week), and located in Atlanta, GA

    Education, Certifications/Licenses:

    Required:

    + B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance

    Related Work Experience:

    Required:

    + 1-4 years accounting or financial analysis

    Preferred:

    + 1+ years in regulatory accounting or finance; experience in supporting rate proceedings

     

    Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

    + MS Excel (Hyperion/Smarview)

    + MS Word

    + MS PowerPoint

    + ERP software application experience
