    Position Title:

    Senior Financial Analyst

    Job Responsibilities:

    The Sr Financial Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the college's financial information. They deliver timely, accurate ad-hoc analysis to assist leadership with decision-making and will also oversee critical aspects of the college's transition from Oracle to Workday, ensuring that robust processes and procedures are thoroughly documented and implemented. Serving as a liaison to other RIT departments, this role fosters effective cross-departmental collaboration to support the college's operational and strategic goals.

    Responsibilities:

    + Complete and evaluate complex reconciliations and analysis of financial accounts, including operating, capital, special, discretionary, external grants, and overhead project accounts.

    + Work closely with stakeholders within the college and serve as liaison with Sponsored Research Services (SRS) and Sponsored Programs Accounting (SPA).

    + Work with SPA representative to monitor grants and contracts. Attend project initiation meetings and monthly or quarterly meetings with Principal Investigators and SPA representative to review award status and provide financial guidance on complex external awards.

    + Provide regular analysis, reporting, and forecasting for all account types, ensuring accurate recording of transactions. Prepare complex compensation-related analyses, oversee summer salary process, ensure position salaries are accurately charged across different accounts.

    + Lead efforts to document, implement, and train staff on new Workday processes, ensuring alignment with university best practices. Reinforce understanding of financial policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

    + Develop a deep understanding of the college's operations and foster strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the college and university.

    + Participate in professional development and training opportunities offered by the Controller's Division to maintain and enhance functional and technical expertise.

    + Lead or contribute to special projects as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    7 years of experience in general accounting/financial reporting required with preference given to applicants with experience in accounting/financial reporting in a higher education setting.

    Skills:

    + Experience with an enterprise-wide financial applications software system.

    + Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail.

    + Strong financial planning and analysis skills, ability to demonstrate acumen in business.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility across all levels of the college and university.

    + Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work within ambiguity.

    + Ability to evaluate, prioritize, escalate, and problem-solve in high pressure situations.

    + Ability to provide process improvements, be a hands-on trainer, mentor, and team leader to various staff in the college.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    MBA or CPA

     

    Experience in a higher education setting

     

    Post award grant administration experience, knowledge of Federal OMB Uniform Guidance

     

    Experience with Oracle or Workday
