BAE Systems is seeking a Material Estimator to join its organization to work on our Maritime Solutions Norfolk Supply Chain team and support the readiness and sustainment of the US NAVY Ships.

The selected candidate will assist various projects over multiple contracts to ensure continued support of Department of Defense (DoD) ship repair projects.
Job Description:
+ Material planning and estimating of bids provided by the lead estimator or contract administrator.
+ Develops BOM pricing for material identified on specific work item(s) or referenced drawing(s).
+ Develops and maintains LLTM list to ensure material requirements will meet availability milestones.
+ Solicit suppliers for price and availability information for materials.
+ Review and ensure that all estimates are complete, accurate and submitted on schedule.
+ Be cognizant of all schedules in order to ensure required need dates are promulgated to vendors.
+ Interface with the Purchasing Department regarding cost and supplier information.
+ Provide Request for Quote (RFQ) information to the buyers.
+ Communicate with the Labor Estimators, Buyers, Ship Superintendents, Craft Supervisors, and Craft Personnel.
+ Frequent contact with outside material suppliers.
+ Perform similar, incidental, and other duties as assigned.
+ Able to work independently with minimal immediate supervision.
+ Able to be an effective communicator internally and externally

+ Advance their knowledge of procurement requirements, and proactively adopt best practices and support new initiatives.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor Degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent education/experience
+ Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP planning.
+ Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
+ Good planning, time management and organization skills.
+ Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
+ Ability to use computers to prepare appropriate reports and documents.
+ Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Programs (such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
+ Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Experience as a Buyer
+ Familiar and able to read U.S. Navy specifications, drawings and technical manuals.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
