    Job Description

    Insight Global is looking for an Android Video Player Engineer for their large media and entertainment clients. This is 6-month rolling contract (likely extended) and is remote in India. You will be joining the Digital Video Platform organization that leads the video and player engineering teams responsible for this company’s digital video ecosystem (Sports, News, Entertainment), including live and VOD offerings. This team builds video player frameworks which are then consumed by a variety of the clients apps; sports, news, weather, etc. This team builds the video players that these other teams integrate into their specific platforms/apps (Roku, iOS, Android). This team gets product requests from different business units across the org and they need to prioritize them ( it might be to build a feature specific to weather, to sports etc). They also assist these BU's with integrations. In this role you will be responsible for the iOS platform development, ensuring strong quality experience for all video content (VOD, Live Streams) on the Android video player. This includes maintaining healthy API metrics, mitigating buffering and playback errors and overall video optimization.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    5+ years of iOS development utilizing Swift, Swift UI and/or UI Kit

     

    Recent experience directly programming within the Video player (AVPlayer), able to build components to support video playback, NOT just the UI customization

     

    Experience with Video Player Engineering - should have experience developing, maintaining and optimizing the video playback functionalities

     

    Experience and familiarity with streaming protocols such as HLS, Dash

     

    Experience with video analytics using tools such as Conviva, Mux, Datadog or something similar

     

    Experience with QoE metrics - startup time, buffering, bitrate, payback
