Job Description
Responsible for leading the strategy, integrity, and delivery of all LKQ North American payrolls, ensuring compliance and shaping the future of payroll operations through Workday and emerging technologies. Serves as a strategic leader of payroll subject matter experts, building a high-performing team that delivers accurate, efficient, and scalable payroll services. Partners with HR, Finance, and business leadership to anticipate challenges, support growth and acquisitions, and drive continuous improvement across payroll operations. Additional responsibilities include:
• Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with payroll and tax regulations across LKQ North America.
• Design and maintain payroll processes and internal controls, including SOX documentation.
• Drive innovation in payroll systems (Workday, AI/RPA) to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage team performance, development, and recognition within budget guidelines.
• Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to align payroll strategies and data sharing.
• Foster a collaborative, customer-focused payroll environment.
• Align departmental goals with corporate and field operations; provide operational reporting.
• Track and report payroll metrics and KPIs to support policy compliance.
• Oversee payroll accounting tasks: reconciliations, variance analysis, accruals, and journal entries.
• Lead payroll systems strategy in partnership with HRIS to support growth and change.
• Develop future payroll leaders through coaching and structured development.
• Proactively manage risks and adapt payroll strategies to organizational changes.
• Communicate payroll insights and risks to senior leadership with actionable recommendations.
• Lead change management for payroll during system upgrades, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements
• Leadership experience managing payroll for 10,000+ employees across multiple states.
• Strong payroll system background – Workday Payroll strongly preferred; Oracle, SAP, or ADP Enterprise acceptable.
• Proven people leader who develops and mentors SMEs.
• Experience driving process improvements, automation, and standardization.
• Ability to thrive in a cross-functional, matrixed environment. • Exposure to Canadian payroll operations (does not need to be a SME).
• Experience in M&A or change management.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
