Job Description
A client in the Transportation and Logistics industry is looking for a Data Governance Lead to join their team. They are seeking a proactive and experienced Governance Lead to drive and mature their enterprise data governance program. This individual will serve as the face of Governance across the organization—partnering closely with data stewards, business owners, and technical teams to ensure data is trusted, well-defined, and well-managed.
The organization has already laid the groundwork over the past several months. Now, they’re looking for a strong leader to own the strategy, drive execution, and elevate governance to the next level.
Key Responsibilities
Governance Leadership
Serve as the central point of contact and advocate for all things data governance.
Champion governance standards and processes across steward-owned data domains (e.g., Vehicle, Location, Customer, Contract, Workforce, etc.).
Lead governance meetings, workshops, and working groups to align stakeholders and ensure accountability.
Data Stewardship & Domain Management
Partner with domain data stewards to ensure consistent definition, ownership, and accountability for data assets.
Monitor and report on stewardship activities and governance KPIs.
Build and maintain clear processes for data issue resolution, escalation, and change management.
Tooling & Enablement (Atlan & SODA)
Own the strategic use of Atlan (metadata catalog, lineage, definitions, stewardship assignments).
Own the operational use of SODA (data quality monitoring, rules, thresholds, alerts, and reporting).
Data Quality & Trust
Develop and maintain governance scorecards and dashboards to measure progress and data quality.
Identify data quality issues, coordinate with technical teams to resolve them, and document corrective actions.
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Translate governance strategy into clear tactical plans with milestones and measurable outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve governance maturity and scale processes across the business.
Partner with IT, BI, and business leadership to align governance initiatives with organizational priorities.

Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
Hands-on experience with metadata management and data quality tools (Atlan, SODA, or similar).
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, stewardship models, and business domain ownership.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills — able to influence across technical and business teams. Familiarity with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Power BI)
