    COMPENSATION INFORMATION

    The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

     

    Principal, Grid Asset Utilization - Salary range $ 144,700 - $ 188,100

     

    Join our team as a Principal, Grid Asset Utilization!

     

    We are seeking a Principal, Grid Asset Utilization to provide technical and policy expertise supporting SPP’s engineering activities. This key leadership role will drive improvements in internal processes and external policies related to load and generation interconnection, resource adequacy, and overall transmission planning. The Principal will represent SPP in industry and regulatory forums, coordinate with membership stakeholders, and collaborate across departments to deliver impactful results.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Maintain and apply deep knowledge of governing documents, regulatory standards, and industry policies to ensure compliance and guide engineering processes.

    + Lead and coordinate technical studies, policy development, and process improvements related to load/generation interconnection and resource adequacy.

    + Represent SPP as a subject matter expert in regulatory and industry forums, including delivering technical testimony.

    + Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal teams, transmission owners, and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and consensus.

    + Provide leadership in drafting and advancing tariff language and other governing documents to support SPP initiatives.

    + Serve as secretary for technical working groups, managing meeting procedures and documentation.

    + Promote SPP’s culture, mission, and core values throughout all activities.

    To be successful as the Principal, Grid Asset Utilization we're looking for:

    + Advanced degree in business, technical, economics, mathematics, engineering or other related field; or

    + Bachelor of Science in Engineering, this degree should:

    + Be from a university that meets the requirements to sit for the Professional Engineering exam (inArkansas, that is most typically a degree from an ABET accredited university or a graduate degreefrom a college that has an ABET accreditation),

    + Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field and preferred degree programs areElectrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, orSystems Engineering

    Experience Requirements:

    + 15 years’ of relevant experience; OR

    + 13 years’ of relevant experience with a Professional Engineer license; OR

    + 10 years’ of relevant experience with a PE and an advanced degree in Electrical, Computer, Industrial,Mechanical or Systems Engineering

    + Working knowledge of the Open Access Transmission Tariffs, as well as FERC & NERC governingdocuments

    + Advanced knowledge of several power systems analysis tools applicable to power system steady state,dynamic, short circuit, and database management systems

    + Experience in multiple functions/departments

    + Strong inter-personal and teamwork skills

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

    Preferred:

    + Advanced degree in related field of study

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

    + This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

    Travel Requirement:

    + This position requires some travel (approximately 0-20%)
