COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Seams Strategy to lead and manage SPP’s interregional activities, relationships, and agreements. This senior leadership role is critical in directing our efforts to achieve seamless boundaries with neighboring regions, fostering effective collaboration across organizations and regulatory entities.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing staff and leading policy and technical development aligned with SPP’s strategic goals. This individual will engage with internal teams, member utilities, contract service customers, neighboring system operators, and regulators to drive innovative solutions that support interregional coordination and tariff services.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and direct all SPP seams activities, including the development, negotiation, and maintenance of effective seams agreements with neighboring entities.
+ Set the strategic direction for seams-related services and initiatives.
+ Hire, mentor, and lead a team of technical professionals and staff responsible for interregional coordination and strategy.
+ Collaborate closely with departments including markets, engineering, operations, legal, and regulatory to ensure alignment with SPP’s strategy and tariff compliance.
+ Serve as the primary liaison and decision-maker on seams and interregional matters.
+ Interface with key stakeholders including FERC, NERC, state commissions, industry groups, and SPP members.
+ Ensure compliance with SPP Tariff, seams agreements, FERC regulations, and NERC reliability standards.
+ Participate in and support organizational working group efforts related to seams strategy.
+ Manage departmental budgets and align resource planning with organizational goals.
+ Regularly report to senior leadership on department performance, strategic initiatives, and areas of opportunity.
+ Identify and proactively address business risks and performance issues related to seams and tariff services.
To be successful as the Director, Seams Strategy we're looking for:
+ Bachelor’s Degree:
+ Twelve (12) Years of professional experience in electric utility operations, markets, or related fields
+ General knowledge of power system operations, market principles and design, monitoring markets, and interfacing with regulatory bodies
+ Demonstrate problem solving and organizational skills and forward planning capabilities
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Ability to lead the execution of departmental strategies
+ Extensive knowledge of various management philosophies and corporate goals to ensure coordination in all interconnected efforts
+ Flexibility and ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities Understanding of, compliance with and enforcement of SPP Policies and Procedures
**Preferred** :
+ Advanced degree
+ Experience in transmission planning, operations, market design or monitoring, NERC and FERC, or other relevant professional certification, and supervisory experience
+ Experience developing and negotiating contract agreements
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
+ This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
+ This position requires moderate travel (approximately 10-15%)
