The Crew Supervisor for Traffic Signs & Pavement Markings is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $26.15 - $28.76 per hour (equivalent to $54,392 - $59,820 annually) ; however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and in compliance with City policy.
The City of Harrisonburg is seeking a dedicated Crew Supervisor in the Public Works Department to lead and manage a team responsible for technical tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control devices. This role involves supervising and training personnel in routine maintenance activities and the correct use of equipment to ensure a safe working environment while providing a clearly marked and signed public right-of-way for all road users. The Crew Supervisor will work under the general direction of the Traffic Superintendent and may perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements at Time of Hire:
+ High school diploma or GED and considerable (3-5 years) experience in maintenance, construction, or utility work including some supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
+ Valid driver's license.
+ Availability to participate in the stand-by rotation, responding to off-hours emergency calls as necessary.
+ Availability to work day, evening, or blended shift work hours, as needed for business necessity.
+ Experience in graphic design and utilizing sign-making software is preferred but not required for consideration.

Special Requirements after Hire Date (On-The-Job Training will be Provided):
+ Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
+ Possession of VDOT Intermediate Work Zone certification within one (1) year of hire date, or as class scheduling permits per department approval.
+ Current possession of or ability to acquire IMSA Sign and Pavement Marking Level I certification within one (1) year of hire date and IMSA Sign and Pavement Marking Level II certification within two (2) years of hire date, or as quickly as training/certification is available.
The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
+ DMV driving record review;
+ FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) drug screen;
+ Job-specific physical;
+ FMCSA Clearinghouse Query; and
+ Criminal background check.
